For I consider that the sufferings of this present time
are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
Romans 8:18~
Dear Friends in Christ,
What a blessing an honor, and a privilege it has been to serve our wonderful Savior under Only a Servant Ministries for ten years in Haiti and Mexico! The time has moved by quickly, things have changed drastically, and God has taught us so much along the way.
For about six months now Pastor Santos has been trying to determine the cause of a pain (at times severe) in his left side. We decided to get him an appointment with our family doctor (who has been with us to Nava) here in San Antonio. So far, all the tests, including a CAT Scan, have not revealed the problem. In February he will be returning to have more tests done. Please pray with us that the cause of his pain will be found and eliminated.
Kenny took Pastor Santos back to Nava after his doctor visit. While there, he checked on Sister Paulina and took her shopping for another month's supply of groceries. The children are doing well, and Paulina continues to express her appreciation for the support of this project. Kenny also spent time working on the ranch with Pastor Santos. The ranch tractor is having various problems and is needing some repairs. Together they searched for the needed parts and did some repair work.
This month we were blessed to be able to help Harvest Evangelistic Association with the procurement of a replacement transmission (from Brian's Truck Shop) for their mission truck in Chiapas, Mexico. Chiapas is one of Mexico's most southern states bordering the country of Guatemala. Greg and Michelle McClanahan founded H.E.A. and do a wonderful work there.
Two dear friends from Ocala, Florida were here for a visit this month. We were so honored to have some time with Danny Thomas, director of Harvest International, and Lela Steel, missionary to Odessa, Ukraine. We attended the same church with Lela in Ocala for many years, and we worked with Danny under H.I. while in Haiti. Our friendship with both of them runs very deep as we have walked through good and bad times with them and their families.
We praise the Lord for His great provision this month with a donation of many sheets, pillows, blankets, beds, dishes, and many other assorted useful items to go to Nava. Along with these donated items was a 1977 Dodge 4WD pickup truck, which will be perfect to give to a family or use on the Ranch of Faith. Ken and Kenny have been working on getting the truck in better shape, repairing and replacing parts as needed.
In October we asked you to pray with us for the provision of funds to install electric power lines on the Ranch of Faith. To date, God has provided $13,500, so the project is still short $6,500. With your continued prayer support we hope to raise the rest of these funds soon. After installing the power, our first project, Lord willing, will be a home for Pastor Santos and Sister Fini on the property. Our vision is to use the Ranch of Faith for teaching and agricultural projects. This would give us the opportunity to fill people with God's Word through devotionals and Bible studies. Being centrally located, we hope that the ranch will draw people from the surrounding "Cities of the Five Springs".
Please be praying for our family throughout the month of February as we will be in Nava, and some of us will be going to Haiti the end of the month. During our trip to Haiti, we will be checking up on the two schools you sponsor through O.S.M. The schools are growing and are in need of more space, furniture, and supplies. We are planning on talking with Lussade, Pastor Mark, and Pastor Peti Noel about the needs and taking inventory for an accurate report. Also, while in Haiti, we will be going to Joligubert (Jolly goo bear) to help with medical work and installation of cisterns. Our February newsletter may be a little late as we will return from Haiti the 5th of March.
Thank you so much for your prayers and support which God uses to send us to Haiti and Mexico. May you be blessed, and may He be honored by the work being done.
Because of Christ,
The Kennedy Family
