Dear
Friends in Christ, |
|
We
hope each of you had a wonderful month and
a blessed Thanksgiving! |

The
Lord allowed us to cross the border into
Mexico with little trouble, which is always
an answer to prayer. On this trip we were
carrying cabinets for Jose & Angelica’s
newly remodeled home. As you read last month,
we were able to remodel one of our older
houses for them. When we arrived in Nava,
Jose, Angelica and family had moved in, it
was a joy to see them settled in. We got
right to work painting the unfinished cabinets
with a clear varnish. Although the weather
was a little damp, we were able to finish
and install the cabinets, along with a range
hood and sink. With the help of a neighbor
Juan Carlos, Kenny repaired a new but damaged
range for Angelica’s kitchen.
Funds were also donated for a heater which
we purchased and installed. Trenches were
dug to bury pipes for the LP gas line and
the drainpipe for the new sink. It was fun
to see the kitchen come together. Toward
the end of our stay, we took Angelica to
'Premier' (which is Nava’s
version of a tiny Wal-Mart) to purchase some
items for her new kitchen. She timidly picked
out new plates, glasses, silverware, pots,
pans and various other items she needed.
Jose and Angelica were very grateful for
all that was done in their home.

Another
project that took place while we were in
Mexico was distributing Bibles and blankets.
We were excited to act as the ambassadors
for an ambitious and energetic group of children
from North Hills United Methodist Church,
of San Antonio, Texas. This past summer,
during their Vacation Bible School, these
children were thinking of others in need.
They made over 50 blankets with “Jesus
Loves Me†on them in English
and Spanish. Each blanket was neatly packaged
with a Spanish Bible. We began at the Juan
3:16 Church then migrated to the Vida Nueva
Church passing them out to families with
children. Even though we work there each
month, we continue to be amazed at the extreme
poverty in which many families live. It is
humbling and heart-breaking to see the conditions
that some of our brothers and sisters in
Christ endure every day. We are very grateful
for the kind expression of love from the
North Hills Methodist Vacation Bible School
to the children in Nava!! |

With
the projects finished in Mexico, we returned
home and had two days to prepare for a wonderful
trip to Plymouth, Massachusetts. The Lord
provided for our family to attend the Faith
and Freedom Tour which Vision Forum Ministries
hosts. It was encouraging for us to have
the opportunity to hear so much information
on our Christian heritage, beginning with
the Pilgrims and Puritans in the 1600's.
What a blessing to spend Thanksgiving Day
with about 150 brothers and sisters in Christ
who were also thanking the Lord for His goodness
to them and their families throughout 2006.
God has certainly been good to our family
this year! |

Please
pray with us for safety for John, who should
return to the states from Afghanistan in
December. Also, James will be having surgery
on his knee on Dec. 11 th, then he will have
some time at home to recuperate. We look
forward to having both of them here for a
visit. |

This
month was somewhat challenging for us emotionally
as it is the month of Shelby’s
birthday. Please continue to pray for the
healing of this sometimes unbearable loss.
Only Christ can fill a hole as big as the
one Shelby left in our hearts. |
|
We
thank the Lord for each of you in our lives.
It is an honor and privilege to represent
you in Mexico and Haiti. We pray that we
do the job in a way that is pleasing to our
Father and a reflection of Christ who lives
within us. |
