Dear Friends in Christ,
We praise the Lord for His hand of protection over Kenny and his family again this month. Travel has been almost impossible. Twice he was able to change locations, so he could work with John Draxton. John is a friend of his who wanted Kenny’s help with a building project. He is a Christian man who employs many Haitians at a business that sells American processed meats purchased from Haitian farmers.
After some time being apart, Laissa and Trey were able to go out with Kenny. They waited for a calm day to be less likely to run into trouble on the roads. Kenny was with them, and they went to the airport to pick up mail and were met by one of John’s delivery men. He drove them out to the compound because it is safer for Kenny not to be driving. On their way to John’s, they went through a roadblock. As they went through, they saw a bus that was still smoking from being shot up. It was sitting beside the road as a grim reminder of what any vehicle going through a roadblock could look like. No one had been killed, praise the Lord, but the bus let everyone know they had better do what they were told by the people in charge at the roadblock.
At John’s compound, Kenny is much closer to the Mirebalais school. Any time Kenny hears Mirebalais is calm, he plans to go visit the school. So far, he has not been able to go. However, Pastor Petty was able to go out and check on the children and pay the teachers. He reported the school was doing very well. While there, he took a few pictures. Because they are remote, they have been able to have school each day, while most schools in Haiti have not been able to begin.
This month, Ken and I were able to attend the National Bible Bee competition in Covington, KY. We were blessed to visit the Ark, where the last day of finals were held. About 360 children came together to compete. These finalists not only pray together for each other before they compete, but they also cheer each other on during the competition. They understand that they are all winners by memorizing so much of the Word of God. We are blessed this is still being done by the Shelby Kennedy Foundation in honor of our precious daughter. Shelby would have been 38 this month and would be thrilled for her name to be associated with young people falling in love with the Word of God! May our loving Father be glorified through this wonderful event!
May each of you enjoy the celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, this month! We pray that your homes and families are filled with the love, peace and goodness of our merciful Father. Thank you for your love, prayers and support for our family and for the people of Haiti!
I thank my God always concerning you,
for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus.
