September 2014

Dear Friends in Christ,
What a beautiful month September has been! The weather has cooled down and we have received some much needed rain. Also our family has grown with the arrival of Sara and Joel’s babies!
Sara was able to carry her two precious little girls until September 15th. When they decided to arrive, no time was wasted. Joel called us about 3:45 a.m. Monday morning asking if Debbi would be able to come over and sit with Suzanna and Westin, who were both sound asleep. Joel and Sara arrived at the hospital quickly. While Joel was busy checking in, Little Madilyn Kay Wean was born at 4:28 a.m. No doctor was present, just a room full of very excited nurses. Joel was surprised when he made it to the room and discovered a baby there to greet him! Madilyn weighed 4 pounds 11 ounces. During Madilyn’s delivery, the second baby turned transverse. When the doctor arrived, he decided Sara would need to have a C-section. Twenty eight minutes later, little Emmaline Jane Wean was born also weighing 4 pounds 11 ounces. Even though Sara was only 33 weeks along, both babies were a good weight and everything went well. Praise Jesus! Sara is home now and going back and forth 3 times a day to the hospital to visit our little Sweethearts. They are still in the NICU and we would appreciate your continued prayers for them to breathe and swallow on their own, additionally, please pray that their heart rates remain stable and for an increase in their weight. They are beautiful little girls and we are blessed to have our 22nd and 23rd grandchildren here now! Thank you all so much for your love and prayers in behalf of Sara and Joel and their precious baby girls, Maddie and Emma.
Kenny has been home from Haiti, and as a result had the opportunity to go to Nava. Debbi and I were supposed to go with him the morning the girls arrived. Therefore, our plans changed and Kenny went without us. His trip went very well and without any negative incidents. He spent some time with Pastor Santos and Sister Fini, during his stay in their home. He went to the Dorcas House, the Carpenter Shop, the John 3:16 Church and visited some of our friends. He enjoyed his time together with Toncho and the boys in the Carpenter Shop. They continue to use the shop for projects spending time in the Word and praying for one another. Lety stays busy with the girls in the Dorcas House as well. Seeing Lety again, rekindled our families’ desire to help her with her home, which is a shack. She lives in a dirt floor home with long pieces of fabric dividing it into rooms. With cold weather coming, we remember how cold it can get in these tiny homes with no insulation. For years, we had hoped to build a home for Lety who has many family members living with her. Once again, we come to you asking for your prayers and possible support to make this a possibility for her. The cost would be about $17,000. Please pray with us and let us know if you are interested in helping with this ministry opportunity.
Lord willing, Kenny will return to Haiti in October. The Merci Village has been completed and there have been discussions regarding the building of another village close by. Please be in prayer with OSM and Kenny’s possible involvement in this project. We are excited about the idea and are praying for God’s leading and direction.
The finals for the National Bible Bee will begin the last few days of October and ends on November 1st this year. Some of our family will be attending along with Debbi and I. Our October newsletter will be going out a little late because of this wonderful and encouraging event. If you would like to witness the hard work many young people across our country have put into memorizing God’s Word, please go to the Shelby Kennedy Foundation website (biblebee.org) to learn how you can watch the finals via a live webcam!
Our lives are for glorifying Jesus Christ here on earth. We fail daily, but because He gave His life for our sins, was resurrected, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, we have an eternal Home waiting for us. We should share our faith in His perfect, redemptive plan with others. What a blessing and a privilege to be a Child of God! May He bless and encourage you as you turn to Him and walk with Him every day. Thank you for your encouragement to our family through your prayers and support which helps us minister in Haiti and Mexico!
Because of Christ,
The Kennedy Family
