October 2012

Dear Friends in Christ,
We are really enjoying this beautiful weather as fall is in the air. How fast this year is coming to an end. As the special day of giving thanks draws near, we reflect on the blessings God has so graciously given to us. We look forward to this new season and the joys and blessings of Thanksgiving!
As we write this letter, Kenny is once again in Haiti. He is working at the site in which he has helped build 14 homes. This month his goal has been to attach a large cistern to the well they dug. It will provide enough water to accommodate all of the 100-gallon cisterns to be placed at each home. A full report about his trip will be included in next month’s newsletter. Kenny will return home in mid-November.
We praise the Lord for the responses we received regarding support for Kenny. He received a couple of monthly commitments and a few one-time gifts, which all are a great blessing. Thank you for your outpouring of love, prayers, and support for him. We trust the Lord to provide. Please keep Kenny in your prayers as he ministers in Haiti this month.
We continue to work on the addition for our home. We are still living in the guesthouse as we work toward the completion of the home before moving in. We are doing as much of the work ourselves as possible to save on cost. With Kenny spending so much time in Haiti and Micah in school most week days, progress is not happening as fast as we had hoped, but it’s coming along.
The addition we are building has two levels. The first floor provides a laundry room and a storage area. The second floor will be OSM’s first dedicated office. Before we moved, the office took up two small rooms and had overflowed into other areas of our house. It will be helpful to have this new designated space which will be adequate to accommodate the office needs of OSM. Praise the Lord!
Please keep January’s medical team to Haiti in your prayers. The team continues to come together and so far includes a nurse, a nurse/paramedic, and a Haitian doctor plus a few others who are excited to serve. The dates are Dec. 30th through Jan. 8th. They will be ministering north of Port-au-Prince in Anse Rouge. Kenny visited the area this summer with Lussade’s church. He really has a heart for these people and feels the Lord is leading him to share God’s love, mercy, and kindness with this part of Haiti. We are excited to host a group of believers to this area and can’t wait to see what the Lord will do. The goal is to tend to the local medical needs, install 2 cisterns, and show the Jesus film. If you feel the Lord is leading you to join this team, please let us know right away as it’s coming up fast. Medical training is not required. The team cost is $900 plus airfare. We would love to have you!
We are very excited about what the Lord has been doing through OSM. We do consider each of you a vital part of this ministry. Because the holiday season is coming up, we included a brochure with ideas of ways you might like to join us in ministering the love of Christ to children and their families. May you and your families have a wonderful Thanksgiving. To Him all honor and glory be given!
Because of Christ,
The Kennedy Family
